Gin smash

Basil Cucumber Gin Smash

I was trying to decide what I wanted to drink while I watched the elections in the USA. I decided to have a Basil Cucumber Gin Smash. Let me walk you through my decision-making process! Since I’m still not working, I need to keep my skills sharp! Quick decision making is listed as a skill on my resume! So this is me staying up-to-date!

My first instinct was to have a Paralyzer. But I was already paralyzed by watching the TV.

I then considered Sex with Satan and decided that either way, I would have the next four years to have one of those. There was a Mind Fcuk, but there was too much of that going on. The Mind Eraser was tempting, but I decided I needed something fresh and light.

The Basil Cucumber Gin Smash was exactly what I needed! It tastes like how I feel about living in Canada when I watch the US elections. It’s fresh, tasty and just a slight bit sour. Speaking of Justin Tredeau, is this a good time to mention my Banana Bread recipe that he loves so much?

Anyway, on to the recipe!

You will need:

  • Lemon
  • Simple syrup (I use rich simple syrup)
  • Gin (Hendrick’s would be best)
  • Basil
  • Cucumber

A lot of cocktail recipes call for simple syrup and it’s so easy to make! It’s just a mixture of sugar and water. Yes, you can buy it at the store, but it’s cheaper to make your own. I use a rich simple syrup. A basic simple syrup is 1:1 sugar and water and a rich syrup is 2:1. I just add less than the cocktail calls for. A rich simple syrup bad as fast as a 1:1 syrup.
