Kirkland Signature Frozen Cocktails Review – Costco

Kirkland Signature Frozen Cocktails have been seen all over social media for over a year now. The problem was that they were only available in the USA. Once again, we poor Canadians were stuck drooling on the sidelines until now.

What are they

These orange wine-based frozen cocktails are basically freezies for adults. They are 100 calories or less and contain 8% alcohol. You can pick them up in your local Costco liquor store, and I would suggest buying them early in the season because I can see these being a hot item. Once you finally get your hands on these, simply toss them in the freezer and wait for your next sunny day!

I feel it necessary to mention that these don’t contain artificial sweeteners. This is a massive plus, in my opinion.

What’s the cost

The frozen cocktails come in a package of 18 for $28.99. Whoa! That’s $1.61 each! There is a $.10 deposit on each little plastic freezie sleeve. You should be able to return the plastic sleeve to get your deposit back, but you may find it challenging to find a place that accepts them right away.

At first, I thought this was a ridiculously high price, but then I changed my mind. It’s a freezie with booze! Of course, it will be pricier than the freezie you buy for your five-year-old.

Speaking of 5-year-olds, you may want to have kids’ freezies around because it’s hard to explain that the freezies are just adults!

3 flavours of Kirkland Signature Frozen Cocktails

How do they taste

The frozen cocktail comes in three different flavours. Lime Drop, Strawberry Freeze, and Watermelon Hibiscus.

The first one I tried was the Lime Drop. I instantly had buyer’s remorse. It was way too tart for me. I had to double-check to make sure I wasn’t sucking on the bottle of Real Lime from the fridge. But then I remembered the name – Lime Drop. It’s supposed to be tart. My daughter-in-law loved it, and she clearly has excellent taste. After all, she is with my son.

The Strawberry Freeze was good. It had a very pronounced strawberry flavour and was much sweeter than the Lime Drop. Although, I found them a little too sweet for my liking. Don’t get me wrong, on a hot summer day, I would gladly accept one, but just one.

The Watermelon Hibiscus was the third and final one to try, and my expectations weren’t very high. Let me tell you, if I could buy just the Watermelon Hibiscus, it would become part of my daily diet! Delicious! I thought it would have that artificial, overpowering watermelon flavour, but I was wrong! It was very subtle. The combination of watermelon and hibiscus is so light and tropical.

Would I buy the Kirkland Signature Frozen Cocktails again

Yes, I plan on having a package of these in my freezer all summer long. If you come for a visit, you will likely receive the lime or strawberry, but I’m sure you won’t mind!
