Summ Apple Pie Rolls are a quick and tasty treat that is sure to please when you’re craving something sweet.
Sure, they’re easy enough to make from scratch, but who has time for that! You, you have time? Well, if you insist…. I’ve tried this recipe from Eating Well, and they’ve turned out great. Fried Apple Pie Rolls
I bought the Summ! Apple Pie rolls in the refrigerator section at Costco, right beside all the other refrigerated desserts. If you see them, grab them fast because they sell out quickly.
I try to skip this section, but I’ve been dying to try these babies for a long time. They cost $11.49 for a 950 g double pack! I should have tossed two in my cart for that price.
How to cook
The instructions tell you to bake them in a 375*F oven for 14 to 16 minutes, but I cooked mine in the Air Fryer for 10 minutes at 325*F. Either way, they turn out great! Just remember to let them stand for at least 2 minutes when they’re done unless you want to relive those childhood memories of burning the roof of your mouth on McDonald’s hot Apple Pies!
How do they taste
They taste exactly how you would expect them to taste: just like apple pie dipped in a sweet caramel sauce. Perfection! Well, almost. The only complaint is that I didn’t enjoy the pie crust. Eggroll wraps should be reserved for eggrolls. Apple pie should have something flakier and more reminiscent of McDonald’s Hot Apple Pie.
Did I mention they’re sweet? They are sweet! In fact, you may want to cut the sweetness by serving
them with some vanilla ice cream. I know, more sugar. But it does cut down the sweetness a bit. Besides, ice cream goes with pie as Tonic goes with gin! You could even serve them with some whipped cream if ice cream isn’t your jam!
Will I buy Summ Apple Pie Rolls again
Yes! Even though I prefer burning the roof of my mouth with the McD’s pie, these tasty pieces of goodness still get 2 sticky caramel-coated thumbs up! Plus, if you keep them in the freezer, you will have them when you need them for unexpected company. Handy!
They freeze well, so buy extra! Let them thaw for about an hour, and they will break apart easily.
Serve with ice cream or whipped cream to reduce the sweetness.
They would make a great addition to a dessert platter at your next family get-together.
